Verizon, DTE Energy. and the Lynn Margarit Foundation sponsored Muskegon
Fury Education Day at the L.C. Walker Arena on January 10, 2006. More than
2500 elementary students between second and fifth grade from 19 different
schools attended the game between the Muskegon Fury and the Flint Generals.
The students listened to speeches from Fury Coach Todd Nelson; Fury Captain
Rustyn Dolyny; and UHL Supervisor, Brad Jones, about the importance of school
and listening to your parents and teachers. Oakridge Public Schools
superintendent, Tom Paniucki, worked with the Fury to develop an 8-page workbook
with educational questions and information relating to hockey including the
physics of why a hockey puck moves the way it does.\
